Keep Going

stone here at the well

It was fall in the Tetons and we were lost.

One minute we were hiking the CLEARLY marked trail and the next we found ourselves Mountain climbing with no sign of a path. We didn’t sign up for this!

If you have ever been through any kind of hardship, it might feel like that. One minute you are walking through life with no worries –  until BAM you get hit by a brick wall you never saw coming. Have you ever been there? If you have, you know when you get hit it’s hard to know how to move forward, or take the next breath. You lose all sense of direction.

What do you do when your SOUL is lost?

When we realized we were getting nowhere, we realized we passed a hiker that said when the switchbacks end, look for the cairns (mound of rocks). Apparently these were made by previous hikers to help guide you to the safest path. So, we backtracked and finally found a stack of rocks. Never were we so excited to see people again! A few minutes later, after following more cairns, WE MADE IT – all limbs in tact!

So if your soul is lost and you don’t know how to get through a gut retching situation – look to the “cairns” that God has strategically placed in your path.

Do not be frightened, & do not be dismayed, for the Lord God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

This could be a friend showing up with coffee, stranger saying they are praying for you, or someone to babysit your kids. Keep taking one step at a time and TRUST that God is providing and taking care of you. The Father in heaven is orchestrating his church to help move you forward – Keep looking for the “cairns.”
